This brief challenged me to explore ways to improve the lives of elderly individuals and their carers by fostering positive cultures and raising standards of care. After considering multiple approaches, I chose to focus on unpaid carers, a large, often overlooked group who frequently feel undervalued, overworked, and underprepared due to a lack of formal training. Many of these carers have little to no time to care for themselves, leading to feelings of loneliness and helplessness.

To address these challenges, I aimed to develop an app designed specifically for unpaid carers. The app would offer helpful tips, insights, and practical advice on managing common situations that arise when caring for an elderly person. Additionally, I envisioned the platform as a space where carers could connect with one another, fostering a supportive community where they could build friendships and find comfort in knowing they are not alone.

Care & Connect

Care and Connect is built on the belief that connecting with other carers can significantly enhance well-being and overall quality of life. When designing this aspect of the app, I aimed to create opportunities for carers to connect with others who share similar interests, hobbies, and live within a reasonable proximity, making it easier for them to eventually meet in person. To facilitate meaningful connections, this section includes a variety of questions and prompts that users can complete to help match them with like-minded carers.

When designing the posters to promote Care and Connect, I focused on using engaging imagery, incorporating keywords that would resonate with carers, and showcasing snippets of the helpful tips and advice available on the app. I ensured a consistent design between the app and the posters to create a cohesive and memorable visual identity.
